About Body Fat Percentage
The percentage of body fat (BFP) of a human or other living organism is the total mass of fat divided by the total body mass multiplied by 100. Body fat includes basic body fat and body fat storage. Essential fat is necessary for maintaining life. The percentage of essential body fat for women is higher than that of men, due to the requirements of childbearing and other hormonal functions.
